Ashish Ghosh is a Professor & former Head of Machine Intelligence Unit and the In-charge of Center for Soft Computing Research at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata. Received his B.E. degree in Electronics and Telecommunication from Jadavpur University, Calcutta (1987), M.Tech (1989) and Ph.D (1993) degrees in Computer Science from the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. He is a fellow of West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology. He received the Young Scientists award in Computer Science from the Indian Science Congress Association (1992); and in Engineering Sciences from the Indian National Science Academy (1995). He had been selected as an Associate of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bangalore (1997). He visited the Osaka Prefecture University, Japan with a Post-doctoral fellowship (1995–1997). He has visited various Universities/Academic Institutes as visiting researcher/professor with fellowships and delivered lectures in different countries including USA, South Korea, Japan, China, Germany, Poland, Italy, Hong Kong, and The Netherlands.
